Splendour in the Grass is coming home! After two years on sabbatical at the Woodfordia Festival Grounds (in QLD), Australia’s premier Winter Festival is returning to Byron Bay (July 27-29). With a purpose built festival ground still in the works, the three-day music love-in will be held at the Belongil Fields, the site of the festival’s birth in 2001.
With a smaller capacity (Belongil’s capacity is just over 17,000) and a more “Splendour-friendly line-up” this year, the festival sold out in under an hour – the quickest sell-out in the festival’s history.
Two of the Rain&Hale family will be packing their bags and road-tripping up the Pacific Highway for the weekend, and we’ve both put together our top-fives – an extremely arduous task, sifting through the incredible line-up of international and local talent.
Hughster:
Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Electric Guest, Tame Impala, At the Drive-In, Here We Go Magic
Haley:
Lana Del Rey, Chet Faker, Jack White, Bleeding Knees Club, Metric
See you there (more updates to follow)!
It’s a good day when we stumble across other designers that inspire us. Sydneysider Jacqueline Chan is just bursting with creativity and dying to share it with the world. I mean, how adorable are these hand painted wooden rings!!
Jacqueline is the creative director of studio WHIMSY MILIEU, also dabbling in a selection of unique accessories….

…and even furnishings….

Listed in Concrete Playgrounds ‘Top 10 things to see and do at the 2012 Biennale‘, MCA is exactly what it says, an organised trading of clothing and accessories set to promote ethical fashion consumption.
When: This Sunday the 22 July – 11:00am
Where: Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, 140 George St, The Rocks, NSW
How much: FREE!
How it works:
You check your clothes in at the start of the day. It’s a straight swap; clothes for clothes, accessories for accessories etc. There is a maximum of 10 items per person so to make sure you get an exact swap for swap make sure you bring as many quality goods as you can to get a maximum trade for your oldies but goodies. And, If you drop your clothes in at one of the earlybird check-ins on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday you get to join in on an exclusive 30 minute pre-swap on Sunday.
MCA has a few rules and standards on what they will and will not accept in a swap so check them out if you intend to head there and partake in a wardrobe upgrade.

Brandy Melville is a super cool italian-born brand r&h happened to stumble upon in Santa Monica. They easily won us over with their festival tanks, sweet cable knits and rockin accessories (Seriously, we spent a lot of time and money in there).
They have stores spread like gems across the globe including Santa Monica, NYC, Hawaii, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin and Munich. They haven’t hit our shores yet but check out their great online store in the meantime http://brandymelvilleusa.com/ (Shipping to Oz is around $40 but is well worth it)
Follow them on instagram for pretty pictures and new releases… #brandymelvilleusa

Oh my lordy lord! This is the kind of photography most of us could only ever dream of being able to create.
Julia Trotti has solidified herself as a major player in the Australian creative industry. Not just dabbling in conceptional photography but throwing her own seductive spin on fashion, music and weddings. Her work has been featured in oh too many publications to mention, and her skills have been consigned to shoot some of the biggest bands and events in Oz.
Here is just a taste of what Julia Trotti has to offer up to the photographic gods…
Even more enticing than her online portfolio is her blog ‘I have something to tell you’ where Julia often spoils us with sneak peek shoots and inspirational ideas.
Now you can love her like we do.
