Fun Bags

A couple of years ago on a cold wintery night, I decided to brave the crispy air and head down to the Finders Keepers Markets at Carriageworks in the inner west. I am so glad that I did because I wouldn’t have this piece here to show-off. I always get compliments and it never fails to jazz up a boring LBD. So who am I talking about? LOLA&BAILEY is the label and they have the most bangin’ accessories I’ve ever come across. Two besties Theresa Nguyen and Cheri Flewell-Smith started in 2007 and have created not only necklaces and brooches but really COOL totes. Long Live McQueen tote was published in the Allen & Unwin, McQueen tribute book. AWESOME!

Have a browse through their brand spankin’ new website here and start shopping.

Be part of a photography street project

This is quite an interesting project for anyone who has a passion for photography.

Kinda like fight club but for artsy, non violent, people.

Each week, instructions (or inspirations) are issued and photographers are invited to upload one photo to flikr in response, revealing their view of the world.

Running for a whole 52 weeks, the project began in October 2010 and is already at its 26th instruction.

You can join at anytime, and although it is not a competition, more of a collective of inspiration from across the world, at the end one photographer will be glorified as the most outstanding participator in terms of contribution over a number weeks. It could be you!

Or join/like via their Facebook page

Absolut-ely the place to be…

On this damp Saturday afternoon just passed, before beginning our usual Saturday night festivities, we stopped in at the pop up shrine to all things ‘Absolut’ at Ray Hughes Gallery, Surry Hills.
We sipped our complimentary new ACAI BERRY vodka cocktails and lounged in a gorgeously arranged orgy den, taking in the surrounding art (when we say orgy den we mean a room with lots of pillows and dim lighting) not to mention the sexy sexy music…

Its only around for another 6 days and its free entry for all so there is no excuse not to stop in…

Thank F#@k It’s Friday!!

This Friday we are desperately in need of some dub, and no one, NO ONE, does it like Tiki Taane.

This track, a remix from Tiki’s album ‘In the world of light’ should get you bouncing and a little bit remeniscant of the summer that is quickly on its way out…

Enjoy your weekend peeps!!!

Hurry to celebrate the best of Sydney art!

This years month-long celebration of diverse art in Sydney is already half over, spanning from the 1st to the 31st of March.

Hosted by more than 80 galleries and venues within Sydney and featuring over 100 exhibitions, there are plenty of amazing art exhibits, events, launches, live shows, installations, forums (and a whole lot more) to check out.

Here is the schedule for this weeks festivities:

We intend to hit up the exhibit ‘Erased’ which is a group show of contemporary Australian drawing at the NAS Gallery Darlinghurst & Perhaps even Martha McDonald’s ‘ Knitting the house’ performance piece alongside the work of the ‘Guerilla Knitters’ at Elizabeth Bay House, Elizabeth Bay.  Sounds just a little bit different, and we dig that kind of thing.

For even more up to the minute details on events going on around you, skip over to Art Month Blog.
