Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project

If you think the idea of a nightlife exchange sounds pretty flippin’ good….. you’d be right. Smirnoff has again decided to throw not one, but 14 banging parties simultaneously around the world.

Months ago Smirnoff crates were created in every participating country and all things great about their nightlife were added. After a massive send off party for all crates involved, each country was allocated their exchange night. Ours is Brazil. And we couldn’t think of anything better!

Today is your last chance to score tickets to the party of all parties, so head to their Facebook page and hastily enter to win!

Thank f**k It’s Friday!!

There is someone close to our heart, that especially helps us get through that torturous last day. He makes us smile at the ridiculously wonderful 80’s fashion, and makes us dance like its 1999 again!

This special someone, is Lionel Richie. Here is our favourite clip.

Happy Friday!

Iron deficient?

How do you say yummo in Portuguese? Churrasco. Pronounced shoo-has-co, Churrasco is a Portuguese and Brazilian term for barbecue. And Churrasco on William Street is the place to find the best of it. This is not the place to take your vego friend and hope they will find something on the menu. Firstly, there is no menu, secondly this is no place for the poultry challenged.

The first thing you’ll notice is a uniquely informal seating arrangement consisting of viking style wooden tables spanning the length of the room. The restaurant is dimly lit and intimate, upbeat and warm with chatter that rises and meets in the air promoting an intimate atmosphere that makes you forget that you are practically sitting on a strangers lap.

The most beautiful waitresses with sexy accents only compliment the amazing food that stream by and are served straight from the spit onto your plate. All food is slow roasted on traditional spit roasts, flowing out and around tables; Marinated chicken, thick crispy chorizo, charred zucchini, a virtual plethora of steak cooked to perfection, cinnamon pineapple that melts in your mouth, and heaps more to keep your stomach, and your eyes, full.

They also have a great selection of beer and wine to compliment your meal, which is a very reasonable flat rate of $40 per person. As much as you can stomach.
Be sure to make a reservation as it is always buzzing.

Yimmy Yayo @ Lo-Fi

So last Thursday we decided to kick-start the weekend a bit early, with a few cheeky drinks at Lo-Fi to check out Yimmy Yayo’s photography exhibit that we’ve been raving on about. We forgot the camera, so we hope the iPhone does the job…

New kids on the block

Do you have plans for the 30th of November? You do? Well cancel them!

Come and see the fresh new talent, delivered from the one and only, St George School of Fashion. The students are pushed to their creative limits to produce amazing pieces; ranging from couture to swimwear, millinery to tailoring. For a sneak peek see below; if you want to see more, then you’ll have to come and see for yourself!

There will be two parades held on the Tuesday at Byron Kennedy Hall, Entertainment Quarter – Moore Park. Matinee starts at 12 midday for only $10 or come and make a night of it at 7pm, for $25. To reserve a seat, please email or call (02) 9598 6364.

Our favourite from top to bottom are 3rd year students Colette Gely, Lisa Weizenmuller, Chloe Gray and Kayte Mcdougall.

Blow-fly? No, i said Lo-Fi

Yes that’s right Lo-Fi, another cool bar has popped up in Sydney. For all you arty farty/cocktail consumers out there, this is the perfect place for you. They have their very own gallery called Lo-Fi collective; which showcases Australia’s hottest up-and-coming artists, designers and photographers.

This Thursday check out the latest showcase to hit the space – Yimmy Yayo’s collection, ‘untitled & unrelated’. It kick starts at 6pm, so come by, and say hi to the Fi! You could even try your luck at an old school raffle, with 100% of proceeds donated to JUMP – Australia’s largest mentoring program for young emerging artists.

See you there, lovers of the art!

OMG – What the fact?

What the hell is up with this picture? Well apart from it just being über hilarious, it featured today as part of a post about how smart orangutans are. And, well, apparently they’re pretty smart.

It all started about a week ago when we had a few friends bursting into real social exchanges, declaring useless facts about unimportant things; staring at breasts helps men live longer? WTF? A woman legally married the Eiffel Tower? Are you serious? The answer is yes. It’s all true. Updated every day on the free App OMGFacts‘. Its full of witty and intellectual content, but most of all it cracks you up when you need it most. The creators have a string of similar websites to stalk through, all accessible through their original twitter site.

Staying abreast of a good cause

In their all wonder and wisdom, Concert for the cure have organised a benefit concert featuring a plethora of art and design pieces based on the theme of the humble female bra. Opening night is Thursday 11th of November with the exhibition running till the 14th and all proceeds going towards research for breast cancer. Seeing as one in eight women will be affected by breast cancer at some point in their lives, we feel it is a very worthwhile cause. We hope to see you all there next week.
